Introduction to the fundamental elements of theater: Space, Time, Presence, and Witness.

Exploring duration, repetition, shape, pattern, gesture, rhythm, and location, we train in improvisational play with sound and movement. We discover – reveal – create –  meaning and language (theater/presence/action) as we uncover and activate the wonders of spatial relationship, kinesthetic awareness, and timing. When do we act? Where are we? What do we express? And How?

Cultivating the actor as play-maker and stage writer, calling on instinct and collaborative willingness (surrender), we practice a dual process of awareness: internal individual instrument and external ensemble composition.

Shifting our attention towards what is arising in the moment and away from thinking we must make something occur, we unearth and participate in dynamic storytelling through simple presence.  How can we galvanize time and space to best serve the unfolding of story and illuminate the meaning of both character and play?
