– Creating something Whole with 5 musicians (or more) and 5 performers (or more) all improvising at once, How will we do it? What will we make?
– Exploring and discovering structures for the flock, herd, clump, and human group playing in the theatrical space.
Tribal Epic: Improvisation in Kinesthetic Delight with Live Band Monkeyworks is an ongoing inquiry of musical and physical improvisation directed by Eliza Ladd. The process engages an ensemble of professionals and beginners in the art of deep listening, kinesthetic response, spatial awareness, and the prospect of creating something whole made up of many parts. We explore and discover structures for the flock, herd, clump, and human group playing in the theatrical space. We wonder what is tribal? what is epic? and what can be illuminated by our collaborative performance presence.
